It doesn’t cost the earth to live in Clutha Country, in fact housing costs are around one third of New Zealand’s national average. Lifestyle and view properties throughout Clutha Country can be had for around the $450,000-$500,000 mark but depending on the distance from town may cost around $300,000 - $350,000. The only place where prices approaching ‘northern’ prices are seen, are at Kaka Point and potentially some areas of Lawrence. The rental market is also good value, with quality houses in Balclutha available from $180 - $250 per week, and similar if not more affordable prices in other centres.
